Chères participantes et chers participants au forum social mondial de Katmandou.
Chères et chers membres du Conseil International du Forum Social Mondial.

 

Je vous adresse mon salut fraternel et vous souhaite de réussir un grand Forum Social Mondial. Ce qui se passe au Népal nous donne un grand espoir.

Un nouveau Forum, dans un pays d’Asie, et dans un pays gouverné par des partis progressistes, c’est déjà plusieurs raisons d’espérer De plus, la réponse et l’enthousiasme des mouvements qui se dirigent vers Katmandou renforcent cet espoir.

 Nous sommes dans une période très difficile. Les dangers des extrêmes droites se renforcent partout dans le monde. Mais les contradictions s’approfondissent et les mouvements sociaux et citoyens n’ont pas abandonné. La crise que nous vivons rappelle celle des années 1930. Gramcsi l’avait magistralement caractérisé dans sa formule : « le vieux monde se meurt, le nouveau monde tarde à apparaître, et dans ce clair- obscur surgissent les monstres. Notre programme en découle ; il nous faut, dans le même temps, combattre les monstres et inventer un nouveau monde.

Un autre monde est possible et nécessaire. Nous le construirons !!

Dear participants of the World Social Forum in Kathmandu

Dear members of the International Council of the World Social Forum

I send you my fraternal greetings and wish you a great World Social Forum. What is happening in Nepal gives us great hope

A new Forum, in an Asian country, and in a country governed by progressive parties, already gives us many reasons to hope. In addition, the response and enthusiasm of the movements heading towards Kathmandu reinforce this hope.

 These are very difficult times. The dangers of the extreme right are growing all over the world. But the contradictions are always deepening and the social movements and citizens have not given up. The crisis we are living through is reminiscent of the 1930s. Gramcsi characterised it masterfully in his phrase: « the old world is dying, the new world is long in coming, and in this darkness monsters are appearing ». Our programme follows on from this: at the same time, we have to fight the monsters and invent a new world.

Another world is possible and necessary. We will build it!
